I have eaten my way through every corner of New York City, but this Brooklyn neighborhood joint just completely blew me away. Tucked away in Park Slope, there is a spot serving up Dominican street food that is so heavy, cheesy, and packed with flavor it will make your head spin.
The spot is called Antojitos BK. If you are looking for massive portions and unbelievable flavors, you need to get here immediately.
The Patacon of Your Dreams
It all starts with their insanely popular cheeseburger patacon. They take two massive sweet plantains, smash them flat, and fry them until golden brown.
Then comes the cheese. They lay down a serious amount of cheddar cheese. They load it up with perfectly seasoned, chopped ground beef, ketchup, their signature chimichurri sauce, cabbage slaw, and fresh tomato.
They top it with the second smashed plantain and slice it in half. Look at that pull! It gets a final heavy drizzle of sauce and parsley.
It is sweet. It is savory. The crunch of the fried plantain with the melted cheese is an absolute game-changer.
Next-Level Plantain Cups
If you think that is wild, wait until you see their pernil mofonguitos. They start with fried plantain cups.
They squeeze in a layer of chimichurri sauce, then pack them with juicy, slow-cooked pernil pork. More sauce gets drizzled on top, followed by a thick layer of creamy alfredo sauce.
They pile on a mountain of shredded cheese and melt it on the grill.
Look at that cheese stretch! The pork is incredibly tender, and the rich sauces make every bite feel like a holiday. These might actually be my new favorite street food.
Smash Burgers and Epic Chimi Sandwiches
They also do a double Dominican smash burger that is pure madness. It features two cheesy smashed beef patties, a smashed sweet plantain, a thick slab of fried Dominican cheese, chimichurri cabbage slaw, tomato, and tons of sauce.
The result? Incredible.
For the finale, we had their famous cubano sandwich. It is piled high with melted mozzarella, cheesy slow-cooked pernil pork, chimichurri sauce, pickles, grilled ham, and more sauce. They press it on the grill until it is perfectly crispy.
The flavors at Antojitos BK are outstanding. Don’t walk, run to Park Slope. Who is hungry?
