Police in the Bronx are on the hunt for a maniac who pushed a straphanger into an oncoming train in a random assault last month.
The NYPD released images Wednesday of the suspect wanted for the heinous attack, which occurred at around 2:20 p.m. on June 27 at the Fordham Road station on the D line near Grand Concourse.
Law enforcement sources said the victim, a 47-year-old man, was standing on the platform waiting for a Manhattan-bound D train when the suspect approached him and pushed him without any provocation.
Cops said the victim fell forward just as the train was pulling into the station; his face collided with the moving car, causing him to lose a tooth. While he did not fall onto the tracks, he did suffer multiple injuries to his mouth and face.
Officers from the 46th Precinct and NYPD Transit District 11 responded to the scene. EMS rushed the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and listed in stable condition.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator, who was last seen wearing a tank top and dark-colored pants, fled the station on foot. Surveillance video from a train lighting up either a cigarette or a joint in a packed train car.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
