Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon hosted a public hearing Wednesday morning on proposed legislation that would enact term limits in county government.
If passed, the legislation would limit both the county executive and county comptroller to three four-year terms. The legislation, if signed, would need voter approval before becoming law, and it would take effect to coincide with 2030 elections.
Most who spoke at Wednesday morning’s hearing were in support of the proposal.
McMahon vetoed a similar term limits bill earlier in the year. Last year, the Republican-controlled legislature passed a law limiting its own terms.
