Detectives in the Bronx are investigating the death of a DJ who was fatally shot near a nightclub early on Thursday morning in an area where murder rates have surged this year.
Officers from the 46th Precinct were called to a report of an assault in front 2362 Jerome Ave., the M Lounge Restaurant, at around 4:26 a.m. on July 16.
When they arrived at the scene, officers found a 29-year-old man lying on the street with a gunshot wound to his head. EMS pronounced the victim dead at the location.
Police have withheld the victim’s identity, pending family notification. Sources familiar with the case state that the victim is known to be a local DJ with some 10,000 followers on SoundCloud.
The motive for the slaying is not known and no arrests have been made.
Detectives are searching for two men who are considered persons of interest. Police said one man was last seen wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap, a dark shirt, blue shorts, and white shoes. The other was seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans.
Meanwhile, killings in the confines of the 46th Precinct have surged throughout 2026. As of July 12, murders are up by a staggering 166.7%, with 8 homicides, up from 3 at the same point in 2025.
Thursday’s shooting is the second homicide in the 46th Precinct this week. On Sunday, a 46-year-old man was stabbed to death near the corner of East 183rd Street and Grand Concourse.
