Fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound during vehicle operation

On July 15, 2026, at approximately 12:00 P.M., Troopers out of SP Buffalo- Troop T responded to a one vehicle collision on the I-90, eastbound at MPM 435 in the town of Hamburg. Investigation determined that a 2021 Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on the I-90. While the vehicle was in motion the operator, Daniel J. Nostrum, 29 of Douglasville, GA used a 9mm handgun and inflicted a fatal gunshot wound to himself causing the vehicle to exit the roadway into wooded area with heavy brush. 

The body was transported to Erie County Medical Center for an autopsy. Next of kin was notified.
