UTICA, N.Y. — An updated air quality health advisory warns of unhealthy air conditions across Central New York due to smoke from Canadian wildfires.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and State Department of Health issued the advisory for Friday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
Officials said Central New York is forecast to reach “unhealthy” levels. This includes southern Herkimer, Madison, Oneida and Otsego counties.
The advisory highlights fine particulate matter as the main pollutant of concern.
People across the State may notice visible smoke and hazy skies, along with spikes in smoke-related pollution.
