Police arrested a Bronx man and charged him in connection with a sexually motivated burglary in which they said he targeted an 8-year-old girl while she slept in her Allerton home.

Detectives say 35-year-old Tishawn Maile, of East 219th Street in the Bronx, was arrested Friday following an ongoing investigation into the incident that occurred on May 25.

According to police, the girl was asleep inside her residence at about 5:11 a.m. when a man forcibly entered through a bedroom window.

Investigators said the child woke up to find the intruder exposing himself and performing a lewd act.

Maile then fled on foot eastbound along Bussing Avenue. Police said the victim was not physically injured.

Detectives publicly identified Maile as a suspect on June 9 while asking for the public’s help locating him.

Maile was taken into custody and charged with three counts of burglary, five counts of sexual abuse, forcible touching, public lewdness, endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of criminal trespass, trespass and harassment.
