Smoggie Queens comes from Phil Dunning

UK pubcaster the BBC has recommissioned sitcom Smoggie Queens for a third season for iPlayer and BBC Three.

Set and filmed in Middlesbrough, Smoggie Queens follows a gang of friends in the LGBTQ+ community. Season one premiered in 2024.

The 6×30’ third season commission follows the debut earlier this year of digital spin-off series The Dickie Show on iPlayer and YouTube.

Produced by Hat Trick Productions, Smoggie Queens is written by Phil Dunning, who also created and stars in the series. Hat Trick’s Chris Jones is the producer. Hat Trick International holds the worldwide distribution rights.

Gregor Sharp, commissioning editor for the BBC, said: “The show has carved out a unique place in British comedy with its unforgettable characters, razor-sharp humour and huge heart. The show continues to celebrate the people and spirit of Teesside with warmth, wit and authenticity, and we can’t wait to see what chaos the Smoggie Queens get themselves into next.”
