An incendiary device was deployed outside of a federal building in Manhattan this morning.
The FDNY responded to initial reports of an outdoor fire at 26 Federal Plaza. Three people had minor injuries and one of them was taken to the hospital.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirms that an individual is in custody and that the FBI JTTF is investigating.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani shared a statement, calling the incident “deeply disturbing” and his administration is in touch with the NYPD and will support the federal investigation.
“Our administration will continue to ensure that every New Yorker is safe in their city — and hold accountable any who threaten that,” he says.
