Officials said that Lange’s responsibilities as CFO include providing leadership, management and general oversight for the City’s Finance Department. The position is responsible for helping develop and recommend financial strategies, directing the development and oversight of the annual budget and fiscal policies, and supporting the accounting and financial systems used to maintain the City’s financial records.

“Amy brings a strong combination of financial expertise and leadership to this role,” City Manager Danielle Dulin said. “Her experience in municipal budgeting will be an asset as we continue to support responsible financial stewardship for the Manhattan community.”

In addition, the CFO will work with other city departments, elected officials and outside agencies to coordinate finance-related activities, prepare and present reports, and manage outside vendors and contractors. The CFO position will supervise the Director of Finance, Budget Officer, Treasurer, Controller, and Customer Service Supervisor.

City officials stated that Lange brings more than a decade of experience as a financial leader in municipal government and public education organizations. Lange was most recently the City Manager for the City of Concordia, Kansas. Her experience includes government accounting, capital improvement planning, debt issuance and management, financial forecasting, and public finance policy.

“This position encompasses a perfect blend of the aspects I enjoy most about local government,” said Amy Lange. “After 20 years of serving public organizations, I am eager to apply my experience in strategic financial management within a larger municipal organization.”

Lange holds a Master of Public Administration from Kansas State University and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science & Management, with a minor in business administration, also from Kansas State University.
