On July 18, 2026, at approximately 2:48 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Dylan Anthony Hayes, 25 of Fort Plain, following a crash involving an ambulance.
An investigation revealed that Hayes was traveling south on State Highway 28 in the town of Milford in a 2004 Volkswagen when he crossed into the opposite lane and struck a Headwaters EMS ambulance head-on, causing the ambulance to travel off the roadway.
Four people from the ambulance, the 60-year-old male operator, a 25-year-old female, a 21-year-old male and a 73-year-old male were transported by Milford EMS to Bassett Medical Center.
Hayes was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which confirmed impairment. He was arrested for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated and transported to SP Oneonta where his reportable B.A.C was .08%.
Hayes was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Milford Town Court on August 18, 2026.
