I went to Brooklyn to try a burger that people cannot stop talking about. The moment I saw them throw these seasoned patties onto the screaming hot flat top, I knew this place was legit. Antojitos in Brooklyn is serving up one of my absolute favorite burgers in all of New York City right now.
Pure Cheese Magic
They stack two Dominican seasoned smash beef patties directly on the grill. They cover them in thick slices of cheddar cheese. Look at that melt. The cheese drips down the side of the beef as it sizzles on the flat top.
Next comes the cabbage. They hit fresh coleslaw with a heavy splash of house-made chimi sauce right on the grill. It gets tender and infused with flavor in seconds.
Layering the Flavors
They slide those juicy, cheesy beef patties straight onto a perfectly toasted bun. But they do not stop there. Not even close.
They top the patties with a massive slice of crisp Dominican fried cheese. Then come sweet fried plantains, piled high right over the cheese. They scoop that warm grilled coleslaw over the plantains.
