WINDSOR TERRACE — THE NEW YORK BLOOD CENTER will give an award on Thursday to the Diocese of Brooklyn for its commitment last year to the center through its blood drives.
The Diocese is being recognized for its 3,232 total blood donations collected from 59 parish blood drives during 2025. The donations potentially benefited nearly 9,700 patients in need of blood. The top contributors in Brooklyn were St. Columba parish in Marine Park, with 504 donations over six blood drives; and Our Lady of Grace parish in Gravesend, with 365 donations over six drives
Monsignor Joseph Grimaldi, diocesan vicar general, will be accepting the award on behalf of the Diocese of Brooklyn, at its Prospect Park West offices. A vicar general is a bishop’s principal deputy and assists in diocesan governance.
