1. City announces redesign of bus lanes on Fordham Road
Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the city’s Department of Transportation announced Wednesday the redesign of bus lanes on Fordham Road in the Bronx.
The project will add new offset bus lanes from Sedgwick Avenue and Boston Road in an effort to make the commute faster and more reliable for 130,000 daily bus riders, the news release said.
2. Federal Plaza arson suspect faces 40 years in prison, officials say
Federal prosecutors say the attack outside 26 Federal Plaza on Monday was not spontaneous but planned for months.
Andrew Arrabaca, a 43-year-old U.S. Army veteran from Poughkeepsie, is now being held without bail on a federal arson charge, officials said.
3. Mamdani’s commission publishes proposals on bike and bus lanes, contracts, savings
After weeks of public hearings, Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s Commission on Government Efficiency — also known as COGE — has come up with five potential ballot proposals.
The five questions range from cutting down the approval process for outdoor dining to speeding up city contracting to fast-tracking bus and bike lanes to establishing a process for putting money into the city’s rainy day fund.
