As the train pulled into the Broad Channel station and passed beneath the overpass, the teen slammed into the overhead beam. The impact left a dent. She managed to avoid devastating injuries, missing pipes and jagged nails that could have impaled her.

Firefighters had to wait for the MTA to cut power to the third rail before getting to her. It took more than 10 minutes before rescuers were given the all-clear. Straphangers realized she was alive when crews got to her, and she screamed in pain.

She was taken to Brookdale Hospital with a broken leg.

Another reminder from MTA officials that subway surfing is dangerous. Just two months ago, there was another subway surfing incident that left one teen dead and another seriously injured.
