Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy (JBRPC) announced the lineup for its 9th Annual Jamaica Bay Festival, taking place on Saturday, July 25, as part of City of Water Day. One of New York City’s largest waterfront celebrations, the Festival invites thousands of residents and visitors to explore the Bay’s 44 square miles of parklands, beaches, wetlands, and waterways through more than 45 free activities celebrating recreation, nature, arts, and stewardship. More than 30 community organizations and local partners will host a full day of free, family-friendly activities from morning through evening. Visitors can enjoy kayaking, birding, shoreline cleanups, yoga, guided nature walks, art workshops, and much more. The Festival celebrates Jamaica Bay as one of the country’s most important urban estuaries while connecting New Yorkers of all ages with the natural, cultural, and recreational treasures of their waterfront.
The Festival is one of several JBRPC public engagement and stewardship initiatives that receive public funding through the offices of NY Senator Roxanne Persaud, Assemblymembers Stacey Pheffer-Amato and Jaime R. Williams, Former NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, and Council Members Joann Ariola, Selvena Brooks-Powers, and Mercedes Narcisse.
