A Brooklyn Park man is in custody after police said he broke into homes and sexually assaulted two women.
Police arrested 25-year-old Darius Ahmadd Olson-Baker on Thursday. Police said he allegedly broke into two Brooklyn Park homes over the last week and sexually assaulted two women.
“To say that it’s alarming, that’s exactly accurate; it is alarming,” said Mark Bruley, Brooklyn Park Police Chief.
Earlier this month, Olson-Baker was released from prison after being sentenced in 2023 to 60 months on a firearm charge. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office confirmed he served the first two-thirds of his sentence in prison and the final third was to be on supervised release.
Brooklyn Park police said a lead from one of their own led them to Olson-Baker.
“He was aware of an individual that Brooklyn Park Police Department has had contact with in the past who exhibited similar behavior many years ago of breaking into the homes of victims,” Chief Bruley said.

How does supervised release work?
“Minnesota’s long-standing practice of the 2/3rds in prison, 1/3rd on release is not abnormal,” said Rachel Moran, professor with the University of St. Thomas School of Law. “Basically it’s a situation where you’re released into the community, but it’s under certain restrictions.”
Moran said those restrictions vary. She said for a firearm case, a person can generally go where they want.
“There’s probably check-in points, so maybe they need to be in contact with their supervised released officer,” said Moran.
Court documents say Olson-Baker had a “significant juvenile history of committing burglaries in Brooklyn Park”.
He is currently in custody and is facing ten felony charges in connection with his alleged actions in Brooklyn Park.
