MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – Manhattan’s historic opera house broke ground Wednesday on a $40 million project to revive the venue.
Wareham Opera House has stood in Downtown Manhattan since 1880. Now the performance space is set to embark on another chapter as “Wareham Hall.”
The Wareham Hall development group says the building will be perfect to host all sorts of performing arts once renovations are complete.
“We are trying to set the stage for connection, inspiration and growth through the arts,” Wareham Hall Marketing Director Ashley Fuhrman said. “In today’s day and age, it seems like arts and entertainment are the great unifier. It brings people together regardless of your background, socioeconomic status, belief system. When you’re shoulder to shoulder with someone enjoying a performance, that is just joyful, and brings together everyone for the right reasons.”
Wareham Hall should be fully renovated and ready to go late next year.
