SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Transportation leaders with the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), Syracuse Metropolitan Transportation Council, and Centro are inviting neighbors in Onondaga County to discuss the future of transportation in Central New York during a public forum on Friday, July 24, in downtown Syracuse.
All three agencies are in different stages of conducting various transportation projects in and around the City and County, prompting today’s discussions to be focused around recent developments, opportunities, and challenges project leaders face while following through with development. One panelist, Elizabeth Parmley with the NYSDOT, is the director of the transformative $2.25 billion I-81 Viaduct Project which is the largest infrastructure project in NYSDOT history.
Conversations will provide an overview of those transportation planning and mobility initiatives, various infrastructure investments, and ways community members can stay engaged and informed. All three panelists say they will discuss local conditions and ongoing efforts to develop safe, reliable, and equitable transportation throughout the community. The forum says it will emphasizes practical civic participation while highlighting public agencies and community partnerships.
Attendees will be able to ask questions, discover ways to stay inform, and prompt thoughtful discussions about local priorities and initiatives during a Q&A segment, which will commence after opening remarks from the panel.
Today’s hour-long forum, hosted by FOCUS Forum of Greater Syracuse, can be attended online over zoom, or in-person at OneGroup, located on 706 N Clinton Street. The doors open at 11:45a.m., with discussions slated to begin at noon.
