Included in the Brooklyn Park Police Department’s emergency alerts were these incidents:
July 17 — At approximately 5 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 7600 block of Hampshire Avenue North for a reported armed home invasion. The reporting party stated that an unknown male entered her residence and held her at gunpoint for a brief period. The suspect fled before the victim was able to call 911. Due to the nature of the offense, a significant police response was initiated, and a large-scale search was conducted with assistance from the Crystal Police Department and the Brooklyn Center Police Department. The suspect was not located, and the incident remains under investigation.
– At approximately 3 p.m., Brooklyn Park Police officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 7600 block of Brooklyn Boulevard. Officers had information that a homicide suspect with an active warrant from another jurisdiction was inside the vehicle. The driver fled, and officers initiated a pursuit. The driver was taken into custody; however, the primary suspect remains outstanding.
July 18 — At 8:10 a.m., Brooklyn Park officers were dispatched to the 8800 block of Nevada Avenue North regarding possible gun shots or fireworks heard in the area. Initially, officers were unable to locate evidence of shots being fired. However, at 11:10am, a different homeowner on the 8800 block of Nevada Avenue North reported that their house had been struck by gunfire. There were no injuries. The scene was processed by Hennepin County Crime Lab and remains under investigation.
July 20 — At approximately 3:16 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 65th Avenue North and Zane Avenue North on a report of a male being physically assaulted and robbed for his belongings. Officers arrived in the area, set up a perimeter, and captured the suspect trying to flee the scene. An adult male victim was treated on scene for injuries. The incident remains under investigation by the Brooklyn Park Police.
July 22 — At approximately 6:30 a.m. Brooklyn Park officers responded to an assault in the 7500 Block of Jersey Ave N. Responding officers learned that at approximately 5:30 a.m. a Black male described as light skinned wearing a balaclava with medium length dreadlocks sticking out entered a residence and held a gun to the victim’s head before sexually assaulting her. The suspect fled the scene prior to the 911 call and officers were unable to locate him.
