SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting drivers to an upcoming lane closure on I-81.

The Department of Transportation announced that Interstate 81 northbound will move to one lane on July 25 to clear the way for bridge work.

Interstate 81 northbound will be reduced to one lane between Exit 18 (Adams St/Harrison St) and the Interstate 690 westbound off-ramp in Syracuse from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 25.

The DOT is urging the public to slow down in work zones and advises that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.

Construction activities like this are weather-dependent and could change depending on conditions during the scheduled lane closure.
