BAY RIDGE — The Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra is headed to Bay Ridge.
The group will perform in the parking lot of Citizens Bank at 9201 Third Ave., during the third date of this year’s Summer Stroll on Third Avenue. The free performance is in partnership with the bank and takes place Aug. 7 at 7 p.m.
“Great music doesn’t only belong inside concert halls; it belongs wherever people gather,” said Philip Nuzzo, music director and conductor of the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra. “That’s why we’re excited to transform an everyday parking lot into an open-air concert experience where neighbors can come together, enjoy a summer evening and discover the joy of live orchestral music.”
The stroll has returned for its 14th year. Throughout the season, there are four Fridays when businesses, local leaders, elected officials and thousands of people congregate to celebrate Bay Ridge with live music, food, shopping, information booths and more, rain or shine.

The performance will feature an orchestra of 30 professional musicians and will showcase Broadway and opera vocalist Amelia Milo and clarinetist Yu Ting.
The program will include “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Aaron Copland’s “Hoe-Down from Rodeo,” George Gershwin’s “They Can’t Take That Away from Me” and “Summertime,” Arturo Márquez’s “Danzón No. 2,” and additional Broadway selections.
Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2002 by conductor Philip Nuzzo. It is the borough’s only resident professional chamber orchestra presenting a regular subscription season. The orchestra says it presents a dynamic range of orchestral, choral, educational and family programming that brings world-class musicians and guest artists together with audiences across Brooklyn.
“Known for its expansive programming, Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra presents everything from orchestral masterworks and major choral repertoire to live-to-film performances, family concerts and innovative collaborations,” the group stated. “Through artistic excellence, community partnerships and a commitment to accessibility, the orchestra continues to make live orchestral music a vibrant and welcoming part of Brooklyn’s cultural life.”
