More Niagara County homeowners are calling for their properties to be screened for radioactive contamination, according to the latest update from the Environmental Protection Agency and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
The agencies on Saturday said another 60 people signed access agreements to have their homes surveyed.
They also said environmental teams visited more than 140 properties, asking permission to conduct those surveys.
The DEC says it’s established a phone line at 518-712-8279 for residents who have questions about its radiological assessments.
This comes after a group in the town of Niagara announced harmful levels of thorium pollution were detected near 120 homes.
The EPA also granted funding to relocate multiple families.
