Small sinkhole shuts down portion of road in Town of Plattsburgh
The town is working with the New York State Department of Transportation to determine the cause of a sinkhole on Gougeville Spring Road
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. —
A small sinkhole is causing problems for drivers in the Town of Plattsburgh.
The town shared an alert on social media Sunday evening. The west end of Gougeville Spring Road was closed, but drivers can still access the roadway from the east side, near Cadyville.

The roadway runs between Route 3 and the Saranac River. It’s about one mile from the Cadyville Beach.

Officials said the town highway department is working with the New York State Department of Transportation to determine the cause.
It’s not clear yet when the road will reopen.
