Alley Pond Golf Center in Douglaston reopens following $10 million renovation – QNS

The $10 million investment was carried out in collaboration with Knox Golf Academy and New York City’s Department of Parks & Recreation under a public-private partnership. Featuring new turf, upgraded bays, and advanced golf technology like simulator rooms, the facility aims to provide an experience that appeals to both first-time golfers and seasoned players.

“This project represents much more than a golf renovation,” said Fei Ren, founder and CEO of Knox Golf Academy. “It reflects our belief that golf should be welcoming and accessible to everyone. We are honored to partner with NYC Parks to preserve this historic facility while creating new opportunities for families, young people, and future generations to enjoy the game.”

The renovations include advanced golf technology, such as simulator rooms, to appeal to both first-time golfers and seasoned players.

A fixture of the Queens community since the 1950s, Alley Pond Golf Center has modernized the facility to keep pace with the sport’s advancements, adding advanced tracking systems, digital displays, and interactive gameplay technology.

The renovations also include improved food and beverage offerings through the Alley Pond Restaurant & Bar. Its varied menu combines American and Sichuan cuisine, making it one of the few Douglaston restaurants serving traditional Sichuan dishes.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, held at Alley Pond Park, Ren was joined by NYC Parks Commissioner Tricia Shimamura, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, Council Member Vickie Paladino, and members of the community. Those in attendance expressed their commitment to preserve the facility’s role as a neighborhood recreation center over the next 20 years.

“For generations, Alley Pond Golf Center has been a place where New Yorkers have gathered to learn, play, and build a lifelong love of golf,” Shimamura said. “This investment ensures that Alley Pond Golf Center will continue to serve as a vibrant community resource, welcoming families, beginners, and experienced golfers alike for years to come.”

With these renovations, Alley Pond Golf Center is projected to create more than 180 jobs, as it expands golf instruction, youth programming, community events, and future classroom space, all aimed at introducing more New Yorkers to the sport.
