Gouverneur resident honored for decades of weather service
The National Weather Service is recognizing Ray French, of Gouverneur, New York, for his outstanding commitment to the field of weather observation.
French is receiving the John Campanius Holm Award, which is the National Weather Service’s second-most prestigious honor. Only 25 people receive this award each year.
The organization said French has made an impact through the Cooperative Observer Program, providing remarkably accurate records in measuring temperature, rainfall, and snow depth.
French will also be receiving the Edward Stoll Award, which recognizes his 50 years of service with the weather service.
