Elmcor Youth and Adult Activities hosted its Fitness and Wellness Block Party on Saturday, July 25, along 107th Street in Corona.
This free event celebrated healthy living, community connection and access to wellness resources for Queens residents.

Attendees had the opportunity to take part in fitness demonstrations and youth activities, learn about health resources and gain hands-on experiences designed to encourage healthy lifestyles and strengthen the well-being of the community.

The Fitness and Wellness Block Party reflects Elmcor’s ongoing commitment to promote healthier communities through accessible and culturally responsive programming. Fitness, mental wellness, nutrition and community resources were brought together for this free event to empower residents with the tools and connections necessary to support lifelong health and well-being.

Those on hand for the Fitness and Wellness Block Party were able to participate in high-intensity interval training workouts, boxing demonstrations, dance, fitness, yoga, meditation, stretching, challenges related to basketball and soccer, tennis activities, obstacle courses, a 40-yard dash, nutrition demonstrations, self-care and creative wellness activities and gardening experiences. There was also a dedicated Kids Wellness Zone that featured fitness activities, dance and healthy snack creation.

A Resource Row was present at the event. Information and services were offered there by community organizations, healthcare providers, civic partners and public agencies.

Attendees were able to complete Wellness Passports by visiting activity stations. In addition to winning prizes, those who completed the Wellness Passports also benefited by being connected to local organizations.
“[The Fitness and Wellness Block Party] gives an opportunity on a beautiful day in Queens for all of these organizations and agencies to come together and have one place where the community can come, enjoy, get resources, dance a little bit to music and just have a great time while they’re getting what access to care that they may need,” Elmcor Youth and Adult Activities Vice President of Youth Services Leyla Bermudez said.
