STAATSBURGH, N.Y. — A Hyde Park man faces dozens of theft and forgery charges after police say he illicitly charged more than $1,300 in fuel purchases to the business account of his former employer.
State Police in Rhinebeck said the owner of Lehan’s Lawn and Landscaping in Hyde Park reported unauthorized charges made to the company’s fuel charge account at a gas station in Staatsburg to authorities, and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation began an investigation on June 23.
Police said an investigation determined that Austyn A. Moyer-Mayhar, 20, a former employee at the business, continued to use the company’s account after his employment had ended. Authorities added that they found that between April and June 2026, Moyer-Mayhar allegedly forged the business owner’s signature on numerous fuel receipts and fraudulently charged approximately $1,376 in fuel purchases to the business account.
Police charged Moyer-Mayhar with 30 counts of second-degree forgery (of deed, will, codicil, contract or credit card), 30 counts of identity theft, 30 counts of falsifying business records and one count of grand larceny of property valued greater than $1,000, all felonies.
Moyer-Mayhar was released with an appearance ticket for Hyde Park Town Court.
