Two New York men have been arrested and charged with robbing a Fort Lee gas station at gunpoint last year, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office announced Monday.
Juan Almonte, 26, and Julian Guzman, 22, both of the Bronx, were charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, fourth-degree aggravated assault and two weapons-related offenses, the office said.
Around 4 a.m. on Jan. 10, 2025, a masked man aimed a gun at a gas station employee and demanded money and jewelry, investigators said.
The gas station employee was physically assaulted after being threatened, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Other masked suspects waited outside in a gray Acura TLX Type S with a stolen temporary registration tag while Almonte and Guzman robbed the Route 4 station, authorities alleged.
The suspects were not identified by the office.
Almonte was charged and arrested in October in the Bronx with the assistance of the NYPD. In November, he was extradited to New Jersey and has been detained in the Bergen County Jail since.
Guzman was charged in connection with the robbery in November, but was already in custody in New York due to another legal matter. Earlier this month he was transferred to the Bergen County Jail.
