A slow-moving low-pressure system is expected to bring multiple rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms capable of producing widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches, with localized higher amounts, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters reported rainfall rates could reach 1.5 to 2.5 inches per hour in the strongest storms, quickly overwhelming storm drains and flooding streets, underpasses, streams and other low-lying locations.
