Five months after losing gas service, the owners of Hell’s Kitchen restaurant Sesamo are turning to the community for help as they fight to keep the business running while negotiations continue over repairs to the building’s aging gas infrastructure.

The Italian restaurant at the corner of 10th Avenue and W52nd Street has launched a GoFundMe campaign that has raised $17,705 from 83 donors as of publication, saying months of operating without gas have left the business under growing financial strain despite remaining open throughout the ordeal.

As a Hell’s Kitchen resident since 2005, I have lived in both the W30s and W50s. After a 15 year career in the luxury fashion industry, I made a pivot to community advocacy in 2020.
