According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the collision occurred when a bicycle that was traveling north on the right shoulder of Pillsbury Drive — which also serves as K-177 highway at that location — crossed in front of a 2022 Subaru sport utility vehicle that also was traveling northbound on Pillsbury Drive behind the bicycle.
The bicycle rider, Mark Frederic Ten Eyck, 74, of Minnetrista, Minnesota, was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Subaru, Danielle Rae Jones, 42, of Kansas City, Missouri, was reported uninjured. The patrol said Jones, who was alone in her vehicle, was wearing her seat belt.
