Amtrak had to suspend — and then cancel — service between New York City and Albany on Wednesday, citing high water and debris on the tracks from Tuesday’s storm.
It wasn’t immediately clear where the route was most impacted.
The hope initially was to have service back up and running by 3 p.m., but about an hour before that, Amtrak canceled service for the rest of the day. No trains are running in either direction.
Amtrak said track inspection personnel were on site evaluating operating conditions to ensure the safety of passengers and employees.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate our customers’ patience as we work to safely restore service,” Amtrak said in a statement.
