NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — City officials are auctioning off a piece of “Knicks history.”
An authentic Champions Way street sign that hung on Broadway during the ticker‑tape parade celebrating the 2026 NBA champion New York Knicks is now up for auction, with all proceeds going back to the city.
The auction opened at $100 on Wednesday, and as of noon had already received 36 bids totaling more than $2,000.
Officials say it’s a rare chance to own one of the original signs installed along Broadway’s Canyon of Heroes during the parade.
The street sign is described as in like‑new condition and was mounted along the route for two weeks. It was handmade at the New York City Department of Transportation’s sign shop and is made of thick, durable aluminum, measuring 36 inches by 9 inches.
“The Knicks brought home a championship after a 53‑year drought, and now is your chance to own a unique piece of the festivities,” NYC DOT Commissioner Mike Flynn said. “NYC DOT was proud to join the celebration and bring an extra touch of civic pride to the Canyon of Heroes during this special day in the history of our city.”
According to officials, only one of the 30 limited‑edition signs created for the champions is being auctioned.
The auction will close on Aug. 12 at 8 p.m.
