A second arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of a teenager in Brooklyn Park earlier this month.
As previously reported, Brooklyn Park police were called to a shooting at Hartkopf Park at around 10:45 p.m. on July 5 and found a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the head. That teen, identified by police as Immanuel Kowo, died at the scene.
On July 9, the department announced a 17-year-old was arrested in connection with the killing, and prosecutors filed a juvenile petition against the suspect.
That petition only charged the 17-year-old with gun possession, not for the homicide.

According to the juvenile petition, roughly 50 people were at the park when the shooting occurred. Most scattered after gunfire erupted. Five shell casings were found near a jungle gym, the petition notes.
Following an investigation by Brooklyn Park police detectives, a Hennepin County judge issued an arrest warrant for murder.
On Wednesday at about 6:30 p.m., Brooklyn Park police said the U.S. Marshals Service arrested a different 17-year-old suspect in Peoria, Illinois. The boy was taken into custody and is being held at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting extradition to Minnesota.
