On October 26, the Brooklyn College Cancer Center team, in partnership with the American Cancer Society and other community allies, made a powerful statement of solidarity and hope at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on the iconic Coney Island Boardwalk.

More than 60 Brooklyn College students, faculty, staff, and alumni turned out—doubling last year’s attendance—and smashed their fundraising goal by raising $2,500 for the American Cancer Society. Their collective energy and commitment transformed the event into a vibrant celebration of resilience and community action.

“It was incredibly satisfying to be part of a unified team fighting against breast cancer,” said Ana Bartolomé, operations manager and community outreach coordinator for the Brooklyn College Cancer Center. “At the center, we strive to fight cancer through research, education, and community outreach, so I want to thank everyone who made this such a success.”
Among the standout contributors was biology student Gulnara Zaynullina, who raised over $1,000 and played a key role in organizing pre-walk initiatives. Brooklyn College Athletics also brought their spirit and strength to the cause, helping raise funds and walking in solidarity along the shore.
