Queens businesses soon will be added to the survey being conducted by Propel NY Energy to get input from commercial interests along the route of its proposed 90-mile power transmission project.
The power cables would run from Suffolk County to the Bronx and Westchester County, cutting across Northeastern Queens. The proposed route would enter Queens on Northern Boulevard and cross to the Bronx from Francis Lewis Park in Whitestone.
The final route in between has been the subject of sometimes heated opposition from residents of Bayside and Bay Terrace. Propel is a collaboration between the New York Power Authority and New York Transco.
“This survey will give area businesses a direct way to share their operational needs with us, so we can plan construction in a way that supports their continued success while we deliver critical infrastructure that benefits all New Yorkers,” said Shannon Baxevanis, director of communications and public affairs at New York Transco.
Propel said in a press release that businesses will get a mailer with information on the survey.
