Public scoping meetings for the Central New York Forward project are underway.
The project’s purpose is to study and address the transportation needs in northern Onondaga County, specifically in Cicero and Clay, with the coming of Micron’s mega chipmaking campus in Clay.
The public scoping meetings are giving residents a chance to ask questions and better understand the potential traffic changes that could be coming in the future.
State Department of Transportation officials on hand are presenting three different concepts and stress that nothing has been decided in terms of a final plan and the input from the community is vital.
“This is really to define our project limits and hear from the community and show them what we understand to be the traffic impacts and all of the things like that,” said Elizabeth Parmley, regional director of the New York State Department of Transportation. “So, community input is so critical right now.”
The next public scoping meetings are set for Thursday, Aug. 6 from 1-3 p.m. and from 4-7 p.m. at the Clay Town Hall.
