BOROUGH PARK — INDEPENDENT MAYORAL CANDIDATE Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday carried much of Southern Brooklyn, including Borough Park, Dyker Heights and Midwood, while Democrat Zohran Mamdani dominated Central, Eastern and Northern Brooklyn, according to The New York Times. Despite the swaths of support for Cuomo, Mamdani won the borough overall with 57% of the vote to become the city’s first Muslim and South Asian mayor.

Borough Park, home to one of the largest Orthodox Jewish communities outside Israel, overwhelmingly backed Cuomo, with 89.1% of ballots cast in his favor compared to 5.8% for Zohran Mamdani and 3.1% for Curtis Sliwa, according to BoroPark24. The Times reported 86% of Borough Park residents voted for Cuomo.) A similar pattern was seen in Midwood and Orthodox Williamsburg.

Citywide turnout topped two million voters — the highest since the 1960s.
