In a joint letter Monday, July 27, the Queens Brandeis Association, Jewish Lawyers Guild, Brooklyn Brandeis Society, and Bronx County Jewish Bar Association said they were “deeply disappointed” and referenced rising antisemitism in New York City. The groups asked Mamdani to revisit the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary and include qualified Jewish legal professionals. According to the New York Post on Tuesday, July 28, a mayoral spokesperson said religion played no role and noted judges from varied backgrounds, including Jewish judges. The dispute remains focused on MACJ composition.
