On Friday, Governor Kathy Hochul announced a week-long speed enforcement effort for New York State. This will be the second time the Governor has issued this. The last time was in early June. During that weeklong enforcement period, more than 14,000 tickets were issued.

The campaign will begin on August 3 and go until August 9. During this period, drivers can expect to see a larger crackdown on unsafe speeding on the roads.

New York State Police and local law enforcement will have an increased number of patrols on the roads.

In a statement, Governor Hochul explained that speeding has continued to be one of the leading causes of fatal car crashes in the state.
