The NYPD is searching for three suspects accused of forcing their way into a Bronx apartment, assaulting a woman and stealing more than $340,000 worth of jewelry, cash and other belongings.
Police said the three men entered a fourth-floor apartment in a Highbridge building just after 10:15 p.m. Thursday after displaying knives and a firearm.
Ring camera footage obtained by NY1 shows three men walking past the fourth floor of the apartment building shortly before police say they used force to enter the home of a 39-year-old woman.
Police said the suspects assaulted the woman, removed her clothing, blindfolded her and bound her hands and feet with duct tape.
The men allegedly stole jewelry, cash, perfumes and a cellphone before fleeing the scene on foot.
On Sunday, police released surveillance video of the suspects in hopes of helping identify them.
Sara Montero, a neighbor who lives directly below the apartment where the incident happened, said she is frightened by what happened.
“It happened to one of your neighbors? Yes. How does that make you feel? I’m so scared,” Montero said.
Residents near Ogden Avenue and West 168th Street said the suspects remaining at large has left people feeling uneasy.
“Being here alone, that scares me enough in the daylight. So imagine, being older at night, that’s like terrifying to me,” one resident said.
Police said the victim suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition. The woman returned home from the hospital Friday but declined to speak publicly about the attack.
