Binghamton, NY. – Broome County Arts Council (BCAC) is pleased to invite you to August First Friday Art Walk on August 7th, 2026, from 6-9 pm, with some locations having varying hours (details below). Most exhibitions are free and open to the public.
Patrons can now receive a special $5 event parking rate for six hours (4pm-10pm) at the Water Street Parking Garage. For more information, visit our website.
This month’s First Friday participating open galleries and creative spaces include 11 locations with 2 POP-UPs venue:
Trolley Tours: The Trolley Tour is running. Trolleys are free, and you can ride them from the Phelps Mansion at 6pm & 7pm for transportation to all exhibition spaces.
Pop-Up! Stellar Human: Stellar Human Presents Kardan Jay curated by orphan arts gallery @ 159 Washington Street. Kardan will be doing live painting/airbrushing demos throughout the evening. (6pm-10pm)
Pop-Up! Tuscarora Chapter DAR Alfred Dunk House. Modern Heritage Quilts: an Exhibit by Triangle Quilt Guild. Visit the historic 1853 Alfred Dunk House for a special exhibit of handcrafted quilts created by members of the Triangle Quilt Guild. Admire the artistry, craftsmanship, and traditions reflected in these beautiful works displayed in one of Binghamton’s historic landmarks. This free popup open house, hosted by Tuscarora Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, offers a unique opportunity to experience textile art and local history in one location. Please note that our historic building requires navigating three steps for entry and does not have public restroom facilities. (6pm-9pm)
The Artisan Gallery: soft landings by Coletter Chermak. soft landings contemplates the complexity of violence. Using environmental and cultural imagery, the work implies sociopolitical warnings and observes how these pervasive transmissions manifest in domestic life. Ultimately, the work challenges differences in perception while remaining curious to how citizen bodies are influenced. (6pm-9pm)
The Art Path Gallery: Summer Art Exhibition. Suzi Meka is an artist and graphic designer based in Vestal, NY, known for her vibrant, imaginative works that blend storytelling, color, and emotion. Her creative practice spans digital illustration, mixed media, and conceptual design, often inspired by nature, everyday humor, and the small moments that spark joy. Suzi’s work reflects her belief that art should uplift, surprise, and connect people. Alongside her studio practice, she is a part‑time caregiver and an active member of the local arts community. Her upcoming August exhibition showcases her newest collection of expressive, playful pieces created throughout 2026. My artwork is rooted in imagination, color, and the joy found in everyday moments. I create pieces that blend humor, nature, and storytelling, inviting viewers to pause, smile, and reconnect with the lighter side of life. Each work begins with a spark — a thought, a memory, or a scene that feels worth celebrating — and evolves into a visual narrative meant to uplift and inspire. Through digital and mixed‑media techniques, I explore how art can brighten a space, shift a mood, and remind us that creativity is a powerful source of connection. (6pm-9pm).
Artful Child Gallery: Nostalgialand by William Crawford “Through podcasts, books and movies, I developed a love for the 1980s and was inspired by the toys, pop culture and comics of that decade, whether it was good or bad. I use pencils, colored pencils and collage to create a fun, playful feeling with my art.” (6pm-9pm).
BCAC Artist-in-Residence: Wall Jewelry: A Journey Through a Queen’s Land by Noa Eshkar. (6pm-9pm)
Orazio Salati Studio & Gallery: Abstracted Models by Michael Sampson. Michael Sampson’s paintings & monotypes begin with direct observation from the figure model. During each figure drawing session, he makes quick abstracted drawings that follow the contours & gestures of the model pose. These drawings serve as blueprints or maps that guide the composition of his abstract paintings & prints. (6pm-9pm).
Atomic Toms: Atomic Jams. Listen to live music by local performers. (5pm-9pm).
The Bundy – 3rd Floor Gallery: Discovered by Laura Miller Kremp & Marie Ada Kremp. From the Collection of The Parsley Estate: The recent discovery of a collection of paintings by Laura Miller Kremp (1856 – 1939) and her daughter Marie Ada Kremp (1900 – ?) have brought to light a remarkable, enchanting body of work, created by both mother and daughter artists. (6pm-9pm).
The Cooperative Gallery 213: DEJA VU & Some Things New Bill Gorman & Carolyn Gillian. The Cooperative Gallery in August will showcase new and old work from two long-time members. Join us for exhibits of photographs from Bill Gorman and Watercolors from Carolyn Gilligan. (6-9pm)
Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts: Remarkable Precision | Photorealism & Beyond by Robert Neffson, Anthony Brunelli, Bertrand Meniel, Hilo Chen & more. A group exhibition featuring some of the pioneers of Photorealism and its influences on artists from the past few decades.(6pm-9pm)
The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier: Summer Celebrations St. Anthony’s Learning Center. Summer Celebrations! Celebrate the joy of summer through the eyes of young artists from St. Anthony’s Learning Center! This colorful art exhibit showcases children’s interpretations of the traditions and moments that make summer so special!From dazzling fireworks and festive parades to family picnics, backyard barbecues and sunny days filled with fun, each piece captures the excitement, warmth, and togetherness of the season.Join us as we celebrate creativity and the many ways summer brings communities, families and friends together! (4pm-6:30pm).
The Roberson Museum: From The Vault: Eldred and Ippolito. Discover art from Binghamton University professors Charles Eldred and Angelo Ippolito in this exhibition of works from the Roberson Museum Collection. Born in Binghamton, New York, Charles Eldred received a B.A. in 1960 from Harper College, State University of New York at Binghamton. An important element of his work, both in sculpture and drawing, was the interweaving of seemingly incompatible elements. The detailed pen and ink drawings, meticulously rendered in combinations of abstract, architectural, and naturalistic forms, tell timeless stories of an epic quality. His sculptures feature brass or bronze objects, removed from their normal context and spun into a fantastic world of the artist’s invention. Angelo Ippolito was born in St. Arsenio, Italy. He studied at Ozenfan School of Fine Arts in New York, at the Brooklyn Museum Art School with John Ferren, and at the Meschini Institute in Rome, Italy. He was a teacher during most of his professional life, including Cooper Union in New York from 1956 to 1966; Michigan State University, 1966 to 1971; and from 1971 at the State University of New York at Binghamton, New York. Admission to the museum will be half-priced ($4) (12pm-9pm).
Phelps Mansion Museum: Portrait demo- with Brian Keeler & Gathering Hearts of Light. Join Brian Keeler and the Phelps Mansion Museum for First Friday this August! Keeler will demonstrate the process of doing the alla prima, or one sitting oil portrait, from a live model. Keeler’s model will be our own Roger Luther, Broome County Historian! Guests will be able to enjoy Keeler’s current exhibit, on display until August 28th, in the ballroom. He will be painting Roger in the Mansion’s front parlor, right under the portrait of the original owner of the house, Sherman David Phelps. Guests can explore the first floor of the mansion, which will have several of Keeler’s larger paintings on display. Additionally, we will have Psychic Readers from Gathering Hearts of Light here. Readings are $30 for 15 minutes (Cash only). No appt. needed-sign up when you arrive. Additionally, the mansion will be open for self-guided tours from 6pm-9pm. FREE Admission.
