TOWN OF ONEONTA, N.Y. (WBNG) — A Oneonta man is dead after a crash in the town of Oneonta involving two vehicles and a deer, according to information from the New York State Police.
On Friday, July 31, around 7:40 p.m., troopers were sent to a crash involving a motorcycle on County Highway 48 in the town of Oneonta.
Troopers learned that Nathaniel T. Walker, 25, died despite life-saving efforts after being hit by a deer that had been propelled into his motorcycle by another car.
It was learned that a 74-year-old Otego Man was traveling west on County Highway 48 when a deer went into the roadway.
The driver was unable to avoid the deer and hit it, which then was sent into the eastbound lane, striking the KTM motorcycle and Walker, troopers said.
Otsego County 911 dispatcher provided lifesaving instructions to the driver of the other vehicle in an attempt to save Walker until emergency services arrived.
Troopers later declared Walker dead at the scene.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing; however, troopers indicate no foul play or impairment.
