Police precincts across Queens each hosted their annual National Night Out Against Crime celebrations on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
The annual event is meant to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make the areas covered by the precincts safer and more caring, thus strengthening the communities.

“When we come out to National Night Out Against Crime, what we are coming out to celebrate is the fact that the stronger the bridge between law enforcement and the community it serves and protects, the safer that community is. And we want to say thank you to everyone who makes that possible,” New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said while attending the 103rd Precinct’s National Night Out Against Crime at Rufus King Park in Jamaica. “I want to say thank you to the men and women of the NYPD. I want to say thank you to the crisis management system. I want to say thank you to every community leader who helps make this community what it is.”

Several local leaders were also in attendance for the National Night Out celebrations from precincts within their districts. They helped encourage community engagement and reinforce partnerships between residents and law enforcement.
“National Night Out is an important chance to recognize and thank the dedicated police officers who work tirelessly to keep our neighborhoods safe,” said New York State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr., who attended the celebrations held by the 102nd, 104th, 106th and 112th precincts. “Just as importantly, these events help build trust and strengthen relationships within our communities, and they provide a great opportunity to do exactly that.”
