BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have reportedly been gutted by parent company Veeps.
According to Pitchfork, nearly all staff at the publications appear to have been laid off yesterday. Emails sent to BrooklynVegan staffers reportedly bounced back, with the exception of founder Dave Levine.
Veeps, the ticketed livestream platform founded by Good Charlotte’s Benji and Joel Madden, is now part of Live Nation. The company appears to have taken over the publications sometime in 2024 or 2025, following their previous ties to MDDN and Project M.
The layoffs impact several long-running music publications, including BrooklynVegan, founded in 2004; Revolver, a hard rock and metal staple since the early 2000s; Goldmine, which has covered record collecting since the mid-1970s; and Alternative Press, which launched in Cleveland in 1985.
This news follows Sony layoffs that happened in April affecting outlets Metal Injection, Metal Sucks, and The Blast Beat Network.
