Hilary Duff performed the first of two sold-out shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden last night, and the evening was all for the millennials.
Looking better than ever upon her return to the stage, the pop star brought back nostalgic classics like “So Yesterday,” “Come Clean,” and “Anywhere But Here,” and was met with waves of thirty-something CD-era fans scream-singing every single word to every single hit.
And, because this is her “Mature” era, Duff popped in some fan-favorite tracks from her latest album, Luck… or Something.
Near the end, Duff changed from a flirty little pink set to baggy jeans and an oversize Good Charlotte band T-shirt, preparing us for what was to come. Soon, twins Joel (whom she dated from 2004 to 2006) and Benji Madden joined her onstage, and the three embraced tightly before performing their 2002 hit song “The Anthem.” All the ’90s kids felt that one.
The Cinderella Story star and the Madden brothers came together backstage and posed for a photo alongside Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, and Joel’s wife, the Nicole Richie. “FAMILY NIGHT @ MSG CONGRATS @hilaryduff,” Joel wrote over the photo on his Instagram Story. “Love yall.”

Duff’s Lucky Me World Tour kicked off on June 22 in West Palm Beach, Florida, and is scheduled to conclude on February 12, 2027 in Mexico City. The singer’s 2026 record, Luck… or Something, is her sixth studio album, and comes 11 years after her fifth, 2015’s Breathe In. Breathe Out.
Duff slipped into a silver fringe dress for her grand finale: a joyful rendition of “What Dreams Are Made of” that made every Lizzie McGuire fan’s heart explode. As pink and orange balloons rained down onto the crowd, the singer thanked fans for welcoming her back. “I’ll remember this night forever,” she said.
