On August 5, 2026, at approximately 5:00 P.M., Troopers out of SP Buffalo, Troop T responded to a motorcycle collision on the Oak Street on-ramp and I-190 in the city of Buffalo. Investigation determined that a 2016 Yamaha operated by Galen E. Owens, 32 of Lockport, NY was traveling on the Oak Street on-ramp to I-190 NB at a high rate of speed. The Yamaha struck a concrete barrier on the curve. The Yamaha become airborne traveling through the air striking a concrete support for I-190. The operator and motorcycle come to rest on the ground approximately 42 feet beneath the I-190.
Owens was transported to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Buffalo Police Department assisted in this investigation.
