Mother and 6-year-old child killed in ATV rollover in Wellsville

Wellsville, N.Y. — A woman and her 6-year-old child were killed Thursday afternoon in an ATV crash in Allegany County.

New York State Police said troopers responded to an ATV rollover with possible fatalities on Niles Hill Road in Wellsville around 2:30 p.m.

Police said a four-wheeler operated by Ashley Robichaud, 38, of Wellsville was traveling along a fence line in a pasture with her two children, ages 6 and 3.

When the Polaris reached the lowest point of elevation in the pasture, it overturned, pinning Ashley and 6-year-old Emersyn Robichaud underneath, according to police. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the 3-year-old child was flown by Mercy Flight to Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
