Authorities are looking for a 32-year-old “armed and dangerous” man in connection with the death of a person whose body was found after a raging house fire in the Hudson Valley, New York State Police said Friday.
Officials identify the suspect as Thomas David Ryan. They say he intentionally set a home in Greenville, near Port Jervis, on fire. It wasn’t clear if investigators believe the victim, a man, was killed prior to the fire being set. That person’s identity wasn’t immediately known, nor was any connection between him and Ryan clear.
Emergency personnel found the victim’s body once they put out the flames.
Chopper 4 over the scene Friday showed the house completely gutted, its charred husk darkening the ground as authorities stepped gingerly over still-burning debris.
State Police say Ryan is thought to be operating a 2016 gray Toyota Prius with NY license plate HNH-7671. He was last seen near Greeneville Turnpike, wearing black sweatpants and a black T-shirt.
Anyone who sees him should call 911, they say.
There was no immediate information on the victim.
